October 2014

Amy Stonionis grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and spent most of her early years in the kitchen and nearby woods. It was in these environments that she learned to forage, hunt, fish, pickle, and preserve. After many food-related jobs, Amy decided to make the move to Brooklyn in 2007 and attend The Institute of Culinary Education.

Stonionis’s first executive chef position was at Radish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. While there, she developed menus with a focus on seasonal and locally produced cuisine and started a monthly dining series. Stonionis co-founded the Brooklyn supper club “I was really very hungry” with Chef Michael Ciardi. In 2013, she took her seasonally inspired cooking to Murray’s Cheese, where she is currently the corporate executive chef, as well as the restaurant executive chef.
