Dustin Mattson of Octane Coffee - Biography

Barista Dustin Mattson's foray into coffee began a few years ago when living in South Carolina. A friend left for a trip to India and Mattson was charged with running his coffee shop despite still being in college and having no prior experience. The stint was hectic, but it also marked the beginning of his career in coffee. In 2006, Mattson attended a coffee expo in Atlanta, and it opened his eyes up to the culture and innovation surrounding the craft. He then worked in sales for a year, delivering products to customers and receiving an education in specialty coffee. Nowadays, Mattson is perfecting the art of the pour at Octane Coffee Shop, where he serves up well-loved standards such as macchiatos, cappuccinos, mochas, and carmelattos.
