Brewer Kevin Brand of (512) Brewing Co. - Biography

Kevin Brand had no difficulty naming his brewery: he chose the area code (512, for San Antonio) he grew up in. But it was in college, in neighboring Austin, where he first got into homebrew. With an engineering degree and a background in medical devices and cardiovascular implants, Brand uses his expertise to nitrogenate beer à la Guiness, or create Belgian whites in the style of Pierre Celis.

Brand is a self-taught brewski savant (along with his wife, who helps manage the business), eschewing outside investors for years. He has consistently reinvested his profits every year, and has slowly but surely doubled every year.
