Mixologist Shannon Ponche of Mayahuel - Biography

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Shannon Ponche learned to bartend close to home, under the tutelage of Ted Kilgore at Taste Bar. When she moved to New York City in 2012, Ponche found herself a place behind the bar at Mayahuel and hasn’t budged—except to pull shifts at some of the best cocktail spots in the city, including Booker & Dax, Nitecap, The NoMad, and Clover Club. Ponche has also made a name for herself on the competition circuit, nabbing the title at the NYC Speed Rack competition as well as top place in Tales of the Cocktail Viva Sangrita, both in 2013.
