Meds For Kids

MY Health-e-Schools has a continuous fundraising campaign that allows us pay for medications and medical services for uninsured and under-insured children that are seen by our telemedicine program. An average telemedicine visit costs $60. While we can see them, perform an examination, diagnose, and prescribe medications, the families often cannot afford to buy the medications that will help their child get better.

About 8-10% of kids in Mitchell and Yancey Counties are still uninsured for a variety of reasons, and often a simple antibiotic or an albuterol inhaler that could keep them out of the hospital is too expensive for their families. An albuterol inhaler costs about $70.00 without insurance. Many parents of these children are put in the uncomfortable position of deciding between medications for one child, or putting food on the table for the family. Often the medication is not the priority, and the child gets sicker and ends up uninsured in the Emergency Room.

Thank you in advance for your support, and for helping to improve the health of children in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. Your donation will make a tremendous difference in the lives of these children and their families.
