Brought to you by Superfly, the production company that organizes the music festival Bonnaroo and San Francisco's Outside Lands, the Great GoogaMooga is a carnival of food, drinks, and music that will rock Prospect Park, Brooklyn May 19 and 20. While general admission is free, die-hard food lovers can purchase tickets to access Extra Mooga, the festival within the festival. Extra Mooga is an all-inclusive experience with careful selection of 20 events each day including: gourmet tastings, culinary seminars and demos, wine and beer tastings, and themed parties.
Extra Mooga isn't your ordinary tents-on-a-pavement with samples-on-a-paper-plate type of food festival. It takes prominent chefs, sommeliers, mixologists, and culinary experts, and challenges them to develop creative events. A sampling of the lineup: butchering a pig with April Bloomfield, breaking down a whole fish with Masaharu Morimoto, Harlem Renaissance party hosted by Marcus Samuelsson, Speed Wine Tasting with Corkbuzz's Laura Maniec, a tag-team Beer vs. Wine face-off with Brooklyn Brewery's Garrett Oliver and Hearth's Paul Grieco, and Liquid Brunch (Art of Daytime Drinking) hosted by Julie Reiner.
But if pure consumption is what you're after, grab a bite at Colicchio & Friends station, featuring food by Tom Colicchio's favorite restaurants from around the United States, and sip cocktails created by Clover Club, Flatiron Lounge, PDT, Booker and Dax, and Viktor & Spoils.
