Chef Michael White will be honored at the annual Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) culinary event on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 6:30pm to 9pm at Chelsea Piers’ Pier Sixty. Funds raised will support the national not-for-profit’s mission of providing scholarships, education, and career opportunities in the culinary arts to disadvantaged youth.
"The annual Benefit is critical in supporting C-CAP’s mission of providing scholarships, education, and career opportunities to at-risk youth who are interested in pursuing careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry,” says Susan Robbins, C-CAP’s President. “For more than 20 years, we have been transforming lives for thousands of qualified students across the country, from culinary education in high schools to career placement assistance upon graduation. We continue to manage the largest independent culinary scholarship program in the nation and, to date, have awarded over $40 million.”
The Chair for the event is Ahmass Fakahany, Owner and CEO Altamarea Group, of which White is chef and owner, and the Chef Chair will be Samuelsson. The Vice Chairs are Tony May and Marisa May and Susan and Richard Grausman. Andrew Zimmern, host of "Bizarre Foods," will be the Master of Ceremonies.
In addition to the walk-around tasting from an all-star lineup of 40 of the city’s hottest star chefs, the festivities will include a live auction and silent auction, including once-in-a-lifetime culinary and travel packages.
