12th Annual Aiwf/ny Days Of Taste Program Set For October
From Manhattan to Brooklyn, chefs, teachers, food professionals and culinary students are gearing-up to present the 12th Annual AIWF/NY Days of Taste. in October to more than 1,700 public school children presented by The American Institute of Wine & Food/New York Chapter. AIWF/NY Days of Taste is a discovery-based program for fourth and fifth grade children to learn about food and how it weaves its way through daily life from the farm to the table.
The program teams up chefs, food professionals, farmers and teachers to guide elementary school children through a four-week curriculum that includes exploration of taste, a visit with a local farmer or visit to a Greenmarket, preparation of a harvest salad, and a trip to the chef's restaurant for a behind-the-scenes tour and lunch.
This will be the sixth year that Spoons Across America. will proudly produce AIWF Days of Taste in New York City. It will take place in a record 65 classrooms in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
"In this age of fast and frozen foods, we want to teach school children about real food-where it is grown and how it is produced-so they can develop an understanding and appreciation of how good, fresh food is supposed to taste," -Julia Child, Co-founder of AIWF-American Institute of Wine and Food.
