2003 Ih/m&rs Chefs Championships Accepting Entries

Applications are now available for the IH/M&RS Chefs Championships, offering chefs across the country the opportunity to compete with their colleagues in live culinary competitions for cash prizes and American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification points. Applications for the 8th annual IH/M&RS Chefs Championships will be accepted through October 5, 2003.
The IH/M&RS Chefs Championships will be comprised of six flights of live cooking competitions based on skill level and/or specific ingredients. Student, team and individual competitions will be held throughout the four-day show. A panel of ACF members will judge the participants on three factors: organization (sanitation and utilization of ingredients and use of allotted time), cooking skills and culinary techniques (creativity, skills and craftsmanship and serving and portion size) and taste (flavor and texture, ingredients compatibility and nutritional balance and presentation). First, second and third place cash prizes, for $2,000, $500 and $250 respectively, will be awarded at the close of each Show day.
The IH/M&RS Chefs Championships offer chefs of all levels the opportunity to showcase their skills, while interacting with and learning from their colleagues on a competitive level, said Gerry Murphy, IH/M&RS Chefs Championships Director.
In addition to the Chefs Championships, the Culinary Salon will be the venue for several unique culinary exhibitions and events that will provide attendees additional networking opportunities throughout the four-day Show including the DiRōNA Chefs Showcase, daily live cooking demonstrations sponsored by the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique and Food Arts magazine and a Chefs Celebration Day during which cash prizes and medals will be presented by the Societe to participants in the Salon of Culinary Arts.
