7th Annual Harvest In The Square Meet The Taste Makers Of Union Square

On Thursday, September 19, 2002 join Blue Smoke, Dos Camino, Kitchen 22 and craftbar, some of Union Square’s hottest new restaurants or old favorites such as Union Square Cafi, Verbena and Bolo when the 14th Street-Union Square Local Development Corporation celebrates the Taste Makers of the community with the 7th Annual Harvest in the Square. This year, 44 of NYC’s best restaurants will provide a taste of the neighborhood’s most delectable choices all under one tent in Union Square Park.

This event has become one of New York’s premier community fundraisers. Local residents, local businesses and New Yorkers throughout the city support Harvest in the Square year after year. “The community spirit in Union Square has always been strong and a defining quality of this neighborhood. We believe that this event which recognizes the success of restaurateurs, chefs and other food businesses in the area will continue to build community relationships and further improve and promote this unique community,” says Karen Shaw, Executive Director of 14th Street-Union Square LDC and BID.

Joey Fortunato, chef at The Tonic and this year’s Restaurant Chair said “Working with so many talented chefs that are my friends and neighbors and selecting the seasons best products from the Greenmarket, makes this event unparalleled to any other in the city.”

Make sure to come out and enjoy unique specials like first time participant’s Gotham Bar and Grill’s Warm Vegetable Custard with Shell Bean Salad & Cold-pressed Olive Oil, Chicama’s Bay Scallop Ceviche with Coconut Gele, Tabla’s Black Angus Brisket on Brioche with Horseradish Rama and City Bakery’s Pear Sandwich with Peanut-Beer Ice Cream. With 44 local restaurants all under one tent, here’s your chance to not only sample dishes from the area’s best restaurants all at the same time, but to also meet the chefs in person. All of the dishes will be paired with beverages such as wines from local Long Island wineries, micro brews from around the corner and coffee and teas.

All net proceeds from this year’s Harvest will benefit the Local Development Corporation’s neighborhood initiatives including the beautification of Union Square Park, business development and streetscape improvement projects.
