Announcing Launch Of Wine Guy, New York's First Personal Sommelier Service!

After years spent working with Thomas Keller, Danny Meyer, and many other leading restaurateurs, certified sommelier Craig Schum introduces a unique business, called WINE GUY, to provide customers with the guidance and resources of a wine professional, such as that which they would receive in a restaurant scenario. WINE GUY offers several services including in-home wine tasting and food-pairing classes for groups or individuals, event planning, shopping/ delivery service, private 'training sessions' in retail stores and wine-service at parties and events. The business is the first of its kind, filling the need for proficiency in an often intimidating subject.

WINE GUY is what Mr. Schum calls, "a mercenary sommelier, or an all-purpose rent-a-wine-expert. I think there are a lot of people who want to learn more about wine but who don't know how to approach it. I want to show them that enjoying wine can be fun, not just geeky or pretentious."

The business functions as a consulting service, offering the skills, insight and industry connections of an 'insider' to the public. "Knowing not only what wine to buy, but where to buy it, how and with what to serve it, and why any of it matters in the first place, is important for understanding a wine, and will ultimately make you love it more," Craig says.

Mr. Schum developed his knowledge of the wine world through years of work in the high-end restaurant industry and offers more formal consulting services to new and aspiring restaurants, helping to create effective and profitable beverage programs.
