Art Institute Of Houston Student Team Places First

February 4, 2003 (Houston, Texas)…The Art Institute of Houston Culinary Competition Team has taken first place in the American Culinary Federation (ACF) State Competition Saturday, January 25 in Dallas, Texas. This top team in Texas will compete on April 26 at the ACF Central Regional Conference here in Houston on April 23 to 27. The winner of the Regional Competition will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete at the ACF National Culinary Conference in July. The Art Institute Competition Team, made up of five students and sponsored by Chef/Instructor Larry Matson, beat out four other teams in fierce competition. The team had been practicing together weekly for six months. According to student Jesus Lugo “This was a bonding experience for the team members. We had to learn to handle the stress and to manage our time”.
