Atlanta's "angry Chef" Invades New York In February

Chef Ron Eyester is pleased to announce the great honor of his invitation to cook at the world renowned James Beard House on Feb. 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in New York City. Known in Atlanta for his music dinners, the ingenious chef and owner of Rosebud and The Family Dog in Atlanta will create a menu celebrating the anniversary of The Beatles' Feb. 16, 1964 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Dishes include Eleanor Rigby (Carolina rice fritters with dates and curried honey jar) and Octopus's Garden (chilled octopus with baby fennel, white beans, borage cress, fresh citrus and oyster vinaigrette). From Morningside to Manhattan, Chef Eyester plans to transport the same warmth and reflective Southern cuisine of his neighborhood establishments to the historic dining room of the James Beard House. In addition to cooking at New York City's James Beard House, Chef Ron Eyester will prepare an Allman Brothers Band tribute dinner "Dreams" - Eat a Peach in The Big Apple on Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. at CITY GRIT culinary salon. Chef Eyester's CITY GRIT menu features culinary interpretations of the Allman Brothers Band's songs and albums; the Georgia band has made almost 200 appearances at New York's Beacon Theatre and a legendary recording at the Fillmore East. The dinner takes place in the 70-seat CITY GRIT dining room in an old schoolhouse in NoLIta. Tickets cost $75; a selection wines and cocktails will be available for purchase. To conclude his visit to New York, Chef Eyester will participate in a guest brunch at Lowcountry in the West Village on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This collaborative brunch between Eyester and Lowcountry's new chef, Oliver Gift, previously at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, will feature an a la carte menu of classic dishes from Rosebud in Atlanta alongside special items developed by both chefs. Eyester's guest brunch celebrates the spirit of the lowcountry region with the West Village restaurant, known for its southern comfort food and impressive selection of high-quality bourbons.
