Brian Canlis And Howard Schultz Award Sixth Menu In Canlis Menu Hunt

Brian Canlis, owner of Seattle's iconic Canlis restaurant, and Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, awarded the sixth menu in the Canlis menu hunt at the East Olive Way Starbucks on Monday, October 25.

"I'm enjoying a cup of coffee with Howard Schultz at a Starbucks," Canlis tweeted from his account @bcanlis. "First person to find us and say hi wins the menu."

Using the clue, participants searched Starbucks locations across the city, including SODO, Madison Park, Pike Place Market and Queen Anne. With 135 Starbucks in the downtown Seattle area alone, it took just over one half hour before Leo Shklovskii found Canlis and Schultz. Several other participants hurried into the store just moments after Shklovskii received the menu.

"There's been overwhelming enthusiasm and support for the menu hunt so far," said Canlis. "It is encouraging us to be more creative with the clues and hiding places. There's still more than 40 days until our birthday, which means there are plenty of chances for everyone to get involved in the game."

The menu hunt is part of Canlis' 60th birthday celebration. Brothers Mark and Brian Canlis have signed 50 menus from 1950 and are hiding them leading up to the restaurant's birthday. Guests who find a menu must bring it in to Canlis and dine before the restaurant's actual birthday on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.

In addition to the East Olive Way Starbucks, menu hiding spots have included the Fremont Troll, the Seattle Public Library, Gas Works Park, Blue Moon Tavern and the Space Needle. Clues to the menus' hiding places are sent out daily via the @Canlis Twitter account and the Canlis Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/Canlis.Seattle.
