Browne Trading First In U.S. To Offer Variety Of Farmed-raised Caviars
Browne Trading Company is the first among American caviar importers to offer its customers a selection of fresh farmed, sustainable sturgeon caviars that have been aquacultured and harvested in Germany, France, Italy and Iran.
Browne Trading, a nationally renowned importer and distributor of fresh seafood and caviars to restaurants, retail, wholesale and households, has responded to the commercial demand for both sustainable and affordable caviars. Wild Caspian Sea caviars, while still available, have seen considerable price increases recently due to limited supply and their harvesting practices are falling under tightening scrutiny of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). The controlled farming of sturgeon in Europe is providing a sustainable alternative to a commercial demand that has threatened the survival of several sturgeon species in the wild. At the same time, it fills the need for first class, fresh caviar products that can be harvested year round, often on a monthly basis or even to order, versus the seasonal harvest typical to wild harvests that can result in lapses of availability and extended shelf-life.
"Aqua cultured caviars are the solution to the problem of high demand and a threatened natural resource" said Rod Mitchell, President of Browne Trading. "This type of farming will not only greatly contribute to the long term sustainability of multiple species of endangered sturgeon, but it will also produce high quality, fresh caviars that in my opinion will change the market altogether in the future."
Browne Trading is currently importing cultivated Siberian Sturgeon (Acipenser Baeri) caviars from Italy, France and Germany, as well as California White Sturgeon (Acipenser Transmontanus) that is being meticulously farmed in Italy. Most notable is the unique closed recirculatory farming system of the Osetra sturgeon (Acipenser Gueldenstaedti) in Germany, which is producing a sustainable offering of caviar that is most associated with the wild sturgeon commonly harvested in the Caspian Sea. Additionally, Browne Trading imports Persicus caviar (Acipenser Persicus) which is the only "sea ranch" raised caviar in the Caspian due to the annual release of over 18 million Persicus sturgeon frye.
Browne Trading Company is an importer and distributor of fresh seafood, shellfish and fine Caspian, American and farm-raised caviars. They can be reached at 800-944-7848 and at www.browne-trading.com
