Buzz Boasts Wine Pairings, Coffee Cocktails And After Dinner Drinks

Desserts and drinks are center stage at Buzz, the D.C. area's unique dessert lounge offering a variety of sweets and savories alongside over 20 wines by the glass, martinis, hot liquored drinks and coffee cocktails.

Buzz offers one of the most extensive selections of dessert wines by the glass, divided into pairing categories so that patrons can easily choose a match for their chocolate, fruit or "nut, fig and creamy candy" desserts. Buzz's wine collection includes a range of international selections, from Portuguese Ports and Spanish Sherries to French Sauternes and German Eiswein, as well as domestic specialties, such as the 2004 Fulkerson Vidal Blanc Ice Wine from New York State and the NV Brooks Tethys Late Harvest Riesling from Oregon. Glass prices range from $4 to $17.

Patrons that have enjoyed Chef Lisa Scruggs signature treats, such as her assorted cupcakes, house-made chocolate bars, muffins and cookies, will be pleased to find wine pairings for her new plated dessert items all priced at $7.50, such as the caramelized banana tartlet, served with coconut sorbet and caramel sauce; the Valrhona chocolate pbti, served with espresso whipped cream and fresh berries, and the warm cinnamon-laced doughnuts, served with vanilla anglaise, bittersweet chocolate and fruit coulis dipping sauces. For those who prefer to drink their dessert, a selection of decadent martinis is available, with prices ranging from $6 to $8 and options that include a Toasted Almond concoction, made with Amaretto, Kahlua and cream, and the inventive Lemon Cake, consisting of sour lemon, Frangelico and Stoli Vanil.

While there's a chill in the air, Buzz will also offer an assortment of winter warmers, such as the Hot Apple Pie, made with Tuaca, steamed apple cider and whipped cream, priced at $7, as well as the White Chocolate, made with a combination of Godiva White and steamed milk for $8. Thanks to Buzz's partnership with Italian espresso coffee company Illy, coffee cocktails will never go out of season, so patrons can enjoy a traditional Irish Coffee, made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, or a Buzz original such as the Peppermint Mocha, made with Peppermint Schnapps, Godiva Dark and coffee, each sold year-round for $8.

Buzz is located at 901 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, VA and is open from 6AM to midnight daily. For more information, please visit the website at www.buzzonslaters.com or call 703-600-2899 (703-600-BUZZ).
