The Cafi At Woodfire To Open Mid June 2005
The Cafi at Woodfire to Open Mid June 2005
Atlanta, GA (June 5, 2005) -- Opening mid-June, the lively spin-off of Woodfire Grill, The Cafi at Woodfire, is a neighborhood cafi with handsomely crafted wood tables, carafes and a chef-appointed vintage Italian meat slicer and a Panini press. Inspired by and a collaboration of Chefs Jonathan St. Hilaire and Michael Tuohy, the Cafi will be located in what is now referred to as the "Front Room" of Woodfire Grill. The Cafi at Woodfire promises all of the romance of neighborhood haunts typically found in Italy, Spain, France, and in the American cities of San Francisco and New York.
The menu will change daily based on the availability of ingredients and what inspires the chefs: cured meats, artisan cheeses, Paninis, house-made breads and pastries, soups, salads, and house-made sausages. The Cafi menu will be comprised of light fare encouraging guests to experience several different tastes, as well as some of Woodfire Grill's signature dishes such as wood fired pizzas or wood grilled burgers (made from all natural beef, ground in house and served on a house-made bun) served with pommes frites. A nicely appointed menu for snacking will include antipasti, house-cured and artisan produced salami and meats, house-marinated olives, as well as farmstead and artisan cheeses from the critically-acclaimed Woodfire Grill cheese cave.
Wine Director Greg Koetting, currently running the award-winning wine program for Woodfire Grill, will spearhead the launch of the "Limoncello Bar." The Limoncello Bar will offer some of the best limoncellos from Italy, served ice cold. The Cafi at Woodfire strives to offer a bar experience reminiscent of an old world Italian roadside cafe, where a plate of house-cured salami and a carafe of rosso is all you need.
Wines will be selected for their ability to pair with the Cafi menu as well as Koetting's eye for the unexpected. Wines will be offered by the glass from $4.00-$7.00, by the bottle for $16.00-$28.00, or by the carafe. Beer lovers have not been forgotten, with a selection to include brews from around the region as well as hard-to-find bottles from abroad. A full spirit bar will also be available.
A meal at the Cafi would not be complete without some of Pastry Chef Jonathan St. Hilaire's wonderfully inspired desserts. As a complement to the desserts, a full selection of ports and sherries will be available, as will espresso by Illy.
Service will be more casual than that experienced in the dining room of Woodfire Grill, but no less warm, friendly, caring & knowledgeable.
The Cafi at Woodfire will collectively offer an array of house-prepared menu items for take out. In addition, guests may purchase house-baked signature breads, cheeses and various ingredients like artisan-produced olive oils and vinegars. The same great quality products found at Woodfire every day will now be available for entertaining at home!
The Cafi will serve the full menu Sunday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Friday-Saturday until 11:00 p.m. As can be imagined with any self-respecting cafe, no reservations will be accepted. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis for the 40 sure-to-go-fast seats. Complimentary valet parking will be provided. Just to make sure every diner has an equal opportunity to really live each experience at The Cafi at Woodfire, the place will be smoke-free.
Woodfire Grill, since opening in August 2002, has been a showcase of fire-roasted cuisine. The restaurant features daily changing food and wine menus serving primarily local, organic and seasonal produce, as well as artisan cheeses, meats and eco-conscious seafood from around the country. Woodfire Grill has been featured in Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Gourmet and Bon Appetit. Both Woodfire Grill and The Cafi at Woodfi
