Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar Introduces Thematic Wine Program

Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar's Sommelier, Chris Sawyer is introducing a new thematic monthly wine program designed to help guests discover, taste and learn about different wines. The program will highlight a Winery of the Month, honoring great local wine makers, offer themed wine flights and wine by the glass, as well as provide educational opportunities for guests. Additionally, each Thursday from 6:30pm - 8pm celebrity wine-tenders will be one hand giving guests the opportunity to meet wine makers and discover new wines with complimentary tastings.

The new program begins in July with "Patriotic Wine Month" featuring old vine wines with a strong focus on Zinfandel (one of the first wine grapes planted in California.) Sawyer will also offer a "Red, White and Blue" flight to pair with Chef Janine Falvo's Three Bites & a Flight appetizer featuring an Oyster Taco, Duck Confit Taco and Braised Lamb Taco. The flight will include Etude Pinot Gris, St. Francis Winery Merlot, and Blue Farm Pinot Noir. On July 1, Tom Mackey, the Director of Winemaking at St. Francis Winery, will be the featured celebrity wine-tender.

"I'm really excited to be able to educate guests about wine and introduce them to all Sonoma has to offer," says Sawyer. "Sonoma county has the highest concentration of varieties of anywhere in the United States. I want to introduce guests to new experiences and help make wine more approachable by putting it in term they can relate to. "

The schedule for the next few months follows:

August - Organic and Biodynamic Wine Month
Winery of the Month - Benziger Family Winery (Glen Allen, CA)
Wines by organic and biodynamic vintners including: Robert Sinskey, Lutea, Paul Dolan, Domaine Carneros, Quivera and Gundlach Bundschu
September - Heirloom Tomato Month
Winery of the Month - Shug Estate Winery (Sonoma, CA)
Heirloom tomato themed flights: (Green Zebra - featuring high acid wines, Cherokee - exhibiting bold flavors, etc.)
October - Little Italy Month
Winery of the Month - Sebastiani Winery (Sonoma, CA)
Featuring wines and flights comprising Californian versions of Italian varietals by: Sebastiani, Muscardini, Highway 12, and Seghesio and others
