Celebrate Spring With A Food And Wine Festival

The Chesapeake and the Inn at Perry Cabin Set Perfect Stage

There may be no better time of the year to visit this Chesapeake Bay region than spring especially when the St. Michaels Food and Wine Festival is underway. After all the fresh green of the country side, the briny breeze and the explosion of spring blooms promise to provide a glorious backdrop for a weekend celebrating all things grape, and all things delicious.

This year, the Inn at Perry Cabin offers guests a front row seat at the second annual St. Michaels Food and Wine Festival (April 29th to May 2nd). This years event will showcase the wealth of culinary talent in the region and beyond its environs. Top chefs like Tom Colicchio of New Yorks Gramercy Tavern, Bob Waggoner of Charleston SCs Charleston Grill, Erik Blauberg of the 21 Club, the famed New York City nightspot, and Lynn Tolley, great-grandniece of Jack Daniels and a Lynchburg, TN restaurateur, among others, will create culinary excitement during the three-day event.

The Inns weekend of divine indulgence kicks off on Friday night (April 30th) as chef Mark Salter and pastry Chef Anthony Orazi of Sherwoods Landing at the Inn at Perry Cabin, join forces with culinary genius David Burke, who has just opened David Burke & Donatella (New York), Erik Blauberg from the 21 Club (New York), and Bob Waggoner from Charleston Grill (South Carolina) to create a memorable, six-course dinner served together with wines from Cakebread Vineyards from the Napa Valley. The menu will feature such items as Smoked Pastrami Salmon, Veal Sweet Breads and Foie Gras, Crushed Coriander roasted rack of lamb with Piquillo peppers and pea shoot emulsion, and Wild Striped Bass from the Chesapeake Bay. Price per person is $175. Reservations requested.

The centerpiece of the St. Michaels Food and Wine Celebration takes place on Saturday and Sunday, when a festival pavilion becomes Haute Cuisine HQ with demonstrations, seminars, cookbook signings, food and wine tastings and more.

The package price for the Food and Wine Weekend is $990 for two and includes two night accommodations with breakfast each morning, two weekend passes allowing access to festival tent events all weekend, and two tickets to the celebrity chefs dinner at Sherwoods Landing on Friday. Guests are also invited to participate in a live auction, VIP reception and golf tournament, all of which are available for additional fees.

The Inn at Perry Cabin is an elegant circa 1816 property located on 25 breathtaking acres. Overlooking the Miles River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, the hotel is a short stroll from the history-steeped town of St. Michaels, Maryland and an easy one-hour drive from either Baltimore or Washington, DC.
