Celebrated Chef David Myers Creates New Signature Restaurant For The Century Modern California Concept To Launch In Late 2012 At Related Companies' Lu
Los Angeles-based chef and restaurateur David Myers brings to Century City a new restaurant slated to open in late 2012. The California-Asian concept will be open for lunch and dinner, housed in an entirely new ground floor space located at Related Companies' The Century condominium tower. For his latest project, Myers looks to create a spectacular yet accessible blend of the Japanese and Californian ways of eating, in a true expression of his own sensibility.
"The concept for this exciting new partnership with The Century is my take on all of the food that I love in Asia, combined with our amazing California ingredients and farmers," said Myers. "The menu will be a collection of my travel memories throughout Asia, housed in a setting that is truly unique to Los Angeles."
Capturing the essence of modern California cooking, the menu becomes a brilliant gateway to the ideas and authenticity of Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisines. The worldly influences of a west coast cuisine all grown up meet the fresh, seasonal ingredients that raised it-all with the marked flourish of Myers' creativity, skill and sensuousness. Taking cues from Myers' explorations of the Silk Road - most notably in Japan, where he has established multiple locations of his high-end SOLA pastry shop brand - the restaurant will serve as a colorful kaleidoscope where bright flavors, a healthful sensibility and dazzling techniques collide.
Designed by LA-based Modern Arc. Inc., the restaurant will take on an eclectic urban townhouse feel, aesthetically driven by the minimalistic touches of Japan and centered on a theatrical open kitchen. Light wood furnishings, aged brass and open-grain dark floors will lead to a picturesque 60-foot window overlooking a lush, green living wall. An expansive terrace provides an organic extension of the modern dining room, for an outdoor setting that is at once bright and vibrant yet luxurious and relaxed. Located on the first level of the 42-story masterpiece designed by renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern, patrons will arrive at the restaurant through a dedicated valet separate from the private resident entrance.
In addition to the restaurant, Myers will design private catering and events menus exclusively for residents of The Century, from large-scale ftes on the expansive estate grounds to intimate affairs in the private dining room overlooking the gardens. Along with preferred reservations, The Century residents will also have the rare opportunity to enjoy Myers' award-wining cuisine in the comfort of their personal residence.
"David Myers has a well-earned reputation as one of the nation's most innovative and inspirational chefs and restaurateurs. We are thrilled to partner with David to bring his highly anticipated new restaurant concept to The Century," said Jeff Blau, President of Related Companies.
The Century's striking elliptical tower rises boldly above the Los Angeles skyline and offers 140 residences with panoramic views that stretch from downtown Los Angeles across the Santa Monica Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Set upon nearly four acres of landscaped gardens, the gated property affords residents the utmost in privacy, surpassing any other high-rise residence or five-star hotel in the entire city. The Century represents the evolution of estate living - offering the best of everything that one would expect in a gated Beverly Hills mansion - with added amenities that a private estate cannot offer, including an Assouline Culture Lounge, 24-hour doorman, concierge and valet parking.
