Celebrity Chef and Best-selling Author Anthony Bourdain to Speak at Adelphi University on February 19, 2007

GARDEN CITY, NY, January 2007-Anthony Bourdain, celebrity chef, best-selling author, and TV show host, will discuss "How to Stop Worrying and Enjoy Globalization/Global Adventures in Extreme Cuisine" on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 7:00 pm in Adelphi University's Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.

Prior to his talk, a select group of students will have the chance to sample this world-renowned chef's cuisine in the University Center cafeteria from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The lecture to follow, co-sponsored by Lackmann Culinary Services, is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Mr. Bourdain believes in the benefits of globalization and in the power of food as a cultural equalizer. He asserts that by providing an outlet for the excitement of cuisine to be shared, globalization will only improve the communication among cultures, not to mention the dining experience.

Mr. Bourdain, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and 28-year veteran of the professional kitchen, authored several crime novels before embarking on a journey around the world in search of "extreme cuisine," including tasty duck embryo and beating cobra heart, that led to his unsettling chronicle A Cook's Tour: In Search of the Perfect Meal and the 22-part companion series that aired on the Food Network. Mr. Bourdain has published several other books, including the best-selling Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, his memoir revealing the shocking truths of life in the kitchen, and his most recent publication The Nasty Bits: Collected Varietal Cuts, Useable Trim, Scraps and Bones. Mr. Bourdain is currently the executive chef of the famed New York bistro Brasserie Les Halles and the unconventional host in search of the globe's most authentic flavors on the Travel Channel series Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.
