On these waning days of summer warmth, Chalmers Chocolate offers a great recipe to mix up a cool, rich, refreshing treat. Reminiscent of Oprah's favorite sip from New York's Serendipity ice cream parlor, this lush frozen hot chocolate is easy to make with a base made from Chalmers' Ganache. Once the base is mixed up - it's ready anytime for great chocolate milk, chocolatinis or this great frosty treat.
The Chattanooga-based company produces two amazing all-natural flavors, original Luxe Dark and Ultra Mint, both made with the finest European cocoas and natural ingredients. The result is a dense, ganache-like sauce free from high-fructose corn syrup that makes the perfect base for this late summer sip.
Chalmers Chocolate Frozen Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
1 8 oz. jar Chalmers' Luxe Dark Ganache
1/2 gallon whole milk
Ice
Heavy whipping cream, optional
Grated dark chocolate for garnish
Whipped cream, optional - for garnish
Instruction
To make frozen hot chocolate, begin by creating the chocolate base by heating 1 part Chalmers Chocolate Luxe Dark Ganache and 1 part milk (heavy whipping cream, optional) in a medium saucepan. Stir constantly until thoroughly combined. Cool completely (this can be stored in the refrigerator up to 5 days - stir when ready to use). In an electric blender, add 1 cup chocolate base and 1-1/2 cups ice. Blend until smooth. Pour frozen hot chocolate into a large tumbler or serve in sipping bowls as you would hot hot chocolate and stir in heavy cream, if desired. Dollop with a bit of whipped cream if you wish and sprinkle with grated chocolate or drizzle with a sauce of your choice (raspberry, dulce de leche, etc...).
TIPS:
This chocolatey base can be made ahead and used in any drink in place of chocolate milk.
To lighten the recipe, you may substitute skim milk - though the frozen hot chocolate will be thinner and frothier.
