Chef Jacques Haeringer And L'auberge Chez Francois Host Alsatian Wine Dinner
Great Falls, VA - - March 17, 2011, Chef Jacques Haeringer is pleased to present a special wine tasting dinner, Tuesday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. Owner and wine maker Catherine Fallar, of Domain Weinbach, one of the top wineries in Alsace, will be presenting new wines and answering questions.
Domaine Weinbach is located in Kaysersberg, just five miles northwest of Colmar, one of Alsace's largest towns. In fact, Domaine Weinbach dominates the village; they are the most significant producer locatedhere, and the best examples from the nearby vineyards - which include GrandCru Schlossberg - frequently, bear the Weinbach label.The first generationto run the domaine passed it on to Theo, whose wife Colette now runs the familybusiness, with considerable assistance from daughters Catherine and Laurence.The domaine was named after the 'wine brook' (weinbach in the localdialect), the small river which runs through the property. The Faller ladies became "wine baronesses " in Paris Match (avery popular French magazine) on the occasion of a report about the mostimportant women figures in the world of wine.
