Chef Robert Barone Joins Villages De France
(Weston, FL)-----Loic Feillet, owner of Villages of France, has announced that Chef Robert Barone has been appointed Executive Chef. Villages de France is a 10,000 square foot French gastronomic center featuring fine dining, pastries, gourmet food and catering in Weston, Florida.
Barone was born in New York. He received his training at the French Culinary Institute majoring in French Culinary Arts and Pastries. After graduation, his first job was at the renowned Union Square Cafi in New York City where he was Garde Manjer. For the next three years Chef Barone honed his craft at various restaurants throughout Manhattan.
In 1994 he moved to Dallas, Texas where he was employed as a private chef for one of Dallas’ leading families. At night he worked at the exclusive Mansion at Turtle Creek. Shortly after, Barone opened his own restaurant, La Petite Maison which received four stars in The Dallas Morning News.
After selling La Petite Maison Barone returned to New York where worked for a major restaurant group as senior executive chef running eight different restaurants.
Meals are served in the Villages' 140-seat restaurant, which has an open kitchen. The restaurant has two dining rooms, one with a nautical theme named “Bretagne” and the other with a French country dicor named “Provence”.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes Viennese croissants, danishes and turnovers, a wide variety of crepes, homemade soups, assorted quiches, classic French sandwiches, French cheese platters and exquisite entrees. A buffet-style brunch is offered on Sundays.
A trip to Villages de France must include a visit to the pastry department. The array of freshly baked pastries, breads and cakes, beautifully presented and displayed in glass cases boggle the imagination.
"There are very few places like this, with everything under one roof," Feillet said. "The only other ones I know about are in Las Vegas and at EPCOT."
The freestanding building that he has constructed is just across from the Weston Town Center, behind a Walgreens. Like a hidden jewel, it sits waiting to be discovered.
