Chef Ron Eyester Presents Allman Brothers Band Tribute Dinner At New York's City Grit
In addition to cooking at New York City's James Beard House, Chef Ron Eyester will prepare a very special Allman Brothers Band tribute dinner on Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. at CITY GRIT Culinary Salon in NoLita. Founded by Food & Wine Magazine's Home Cook Superstar Sarah Simmons and business partner Jeremie Kittredge, CITY GRIT provides an authentic culinary experience through fostering the relationship between chefs, purveyors and diners.
Chef Eyester's CITY GRIT menu features culinary interpretations of the Allman Brothers Band's songs and albums; the Georgia band has made almost 200 appearances at New York's Beacon Theatre and a legendary recording at the Fillmore East, continuing with a 10-day run at the Beacon Theater this March. No stranger to music dinners, Ron Eyester is known in Atlanta for such music dinners as his legendary Garcia Dinner, which garners a cult following, and he is preparing a Beatles dinner for the James Beard House on Feb. 16. A native New Yorker by way of Charleston, Eyester gathers inspiration from his Italian upbringing and Southern locale to craft hearty comfort fare.
Dishes for his Allman Brothers Band tribute dinner include Come On In My Kitchen, from Shades of Two Worlds: An Amuse of Southern Snacks (Rosebud Pimento Cheese, Catfish Pate, Chicken Liver Toast); Southbound: Beer Braised White Oak Pastures Chicken (Riverview Farms grits, Rosebud collard greens and 420 jus); and Eat A Peach: Peach "Pop Tart" (Emily G's Peach Marmalade, bourbon-rosemary caramel and High Road Craft Peach-Praline Ice Cream). Full menu available below.
Chef Eyester will present his Allman Brothers Band Tribute Dinner "Dreams" in the 70-seat CITY GRIT dining room in an old schoolhouse in NoLita. Tickets cost $75; a selection wines and cocktails will be available for purchase. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.citygritnyc.com. CITY GRIT is located at 38 Prince (between Mott Street and Mulberry Street), New York, New York 10012.
