Colvin Run Tavern Named One Of Best New Restaurants

Bob Kinkeads Colvin Run Tavern in Tysons Corner is included in The Best New Restaurants of 2002 annual survey in the November 2002 issue of Esquire magazine. Currently available at newsstands and bookstores, the magazine unveils the results of the 21st annual restaurant survey for the top places to eat from coast to coast.

When determining Americas best new restaurants, Esquire writer John Mariani considered a number of factors, with the key being a combination of atmosphere, location and cuisine. He traveled across the country to determine appropriate restaurants to include in this noteworthy feature.

Colvin Run Tavern, Mariani noted, is a handsome restaurant with four distinctly decorated dining rooms . . . where chef-owner Bob Kinkead, with on-premesis chef Jeff Gaetjen, demonstrates his nonpareil flair for bringing all the strains of modern American cooking into exquisite focus. He added that the desserts are every bit as expressive of American bounty, and remarked upon a rolling card from which prime rib is carved by the inch.

Executive chef Jeff Gaetjens menu showcases a sophisticated array of dishes with an emphasis on fresh produce, seafood, meats, poultry and game. The original dishes prepared by chef Gaetjen reflect the four regions represented in the dicor of each of the four distinct dining areas within the restaurant: Nantucket, Shenandoah, Charleston and Maine.
