Lunch, Panel Discussion & Book signing with cookbook author Diane Worthington
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Diane Rossen Worthington will host a lunch and panel discussion to coincide with the release of her latest cookbook "A Taste of the Season" at Silks restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental San Francisco on December 2. Participating in the round table discussion, moderated by Worthington, will be Sue Conley of Cowgirl Creamery, Mitch Gronner of Royal Hawaiian Seafood, Richard Robinson of Sonoma Organics and executive chef Toni Robertson of Mandarin Oriental San Francisco.
Worthington is the author of 17 cookbooks, including Seriously Simple, The Taste of Summer and The Cuisine of California. She is a James Beard Award-winning broadcaster who trained at the London Cordon Bleu. Her newest book focuses on recipes that fit easily into everyday lives using the harvests of autumn to turn cooler days and longer nights into cozy and rewarding home-dining experiences.
The public is invited to attend. The panel discussion will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a four-course autumn menu from Worthington's cookbook, and end with a book-signing at 1:30. Tickets are $85 per person and include a copy of Worthington's new cookbook "The Taste of the Season."
The panel of farmers and food professionals will discuss the the farm, the field and the ocean and how the seasons affect what is available for the cooks' use in the kitchen. Topics for discussion will include: Why some varieties of cheeses are only made in the fall; Whether or not shorter days affect production and the flavor of cheeses; What seasonal and fresh really mean when buying fish. What does it mean to be certified organic; What are heirloom vegetables and why is there such a resurgence; How far in advance do chefs plan menus?
