Craigie On Main's Jessica Scott Honored As Boston Magazine's Best Chef - Pastry

Pastry Chef Jessica Scott of Craigie On Main, one of the nation's most lauded dining destinations, was named Best Chef - Pastry by Boston Magazine, in the 39th Annual Guide to the "Best of Boston" (August 2012).

Foodies from all corners of the globe have come to know and love Craigie On Main for Chef Tony Maws' famed Crispy Fried Pig Tails, amazing pasta dishes such as Buckwheat Flour Fusilli with wild boar and arugula ragout, and, of course, The Burger. Following the same local, fresh, and tasty philosophy of Craigie On Main's savory menu creation, Jessica works to ensure the dessert program enhances every guests dining experience with equally dynamic and tasty options. Her style leans toward comforting and sophisticated desserts that focus on balancing contrasts such as smooth and crunch, and savory and sweet highlighted through the use of unusual ingredients including Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Tart with White Chocolate-Miso Ice Cream, Huckleberry Coulis, and Smoked Salt Butterscotch; Coconut Sorbet with Cherry Rose Compote, Chocolate Creme Patisserie, and Pumpernickel Tuiles; and the Affogato with Chocolate Mint Ice Cream, Chicory-Rum Chocolate Sauce and Espresso Cookie Crumbs (think grown-up thin mint sundae)!

A Stanford University alum, Jessica earned her B.S. in Human Biology, while also being a member of the varsity lacrosse team. After graduating from Stanford, Jessica attended The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, where she excelled in the culinary program, but even early into the program Jessica explains "I was always gravitating towards anything pastry-related. It became pretty obvious over time I was destined for desserts." Specializing in pastry has allowed Jessica to utilize both her science and culinary backgrounds. Jessica is also a valued member of the Craigie On Main management team, and plays an integral part in the success of the entire operation. Prior to heading the pastry program at Craigie On Main , Jessica was pastry sous chef at L'Espalier in Boston before heading to Nantucket to work in the pastry kitchen of Straight Wharf Restaurant.

Craigie on Main is located at 853 Main St. in Cambridge, MA. It is open for dinner nightly (Tuesday - Sunday). Dinner is served 5:30-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
