D Magazine Hosts Inaugural Stainless Steel Cheftmcompetition
(DALLAS, Texas, February 22 2007) - D Magazine will co-host the inaugural Stainless Steel ChefTM Competition with Milestone Culinary Arts Center and The Viking Cooking School on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Milestone Culinary Arts Center from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. The event celebrates The Junior League of Dallas' cookbook Dallas Dish. Six local celebrity chefs will create two distinctive dishes in front of event attendees. Participating chefs include Samir Dhurandhar of Nick & Sam's, Dan Landsberg of Tillman's Roadhouse, Stefano Secchi of Ferrari's Italian Villa, John Tesar of The Mansion on Turtle Creek, Gilbert Garza of Suze, and Chris Ward of The Mercury Grill.
The judges for the contest are prestigious local foodies and restaurateurs. Judges include Nancy Nichols, D Magazine food and travel editor; Tracy Evers, president of the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association; Monica Green owner of Monica Aca y Alla and Ciudad; Bob Sambol owner of Bob's Steak and Chop House; Gene Street, owner of III Forks; Sharon Van Meter, executive director of Milestone Culinary Arts Center; and Shannon Wynne, owner of Flying Fish. The judges will announce the rules of the contest and the surprise ingredients that all participants must use.

The Junior League of Dallas (JLD) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
