Drinkable Desserts Make Their Debut At Palette With The Dulce De Leche Batida

Palette, the 125-seat restaurant-as-art-gallery serving current American cuisine, has just introduced the Dulce de Leche Batida to its menu. By offering the Dulce de Leche flavor in a Batida, which means milkshake in Spanish, Palette's Executive Chef James Clark hopes to showcase his restaurant's culinary reach throughout the Americas while providing guests with a refreshing, summer treat.

"Drinkable desserts are all the rage this summer, especially in the finer dining establishments across the country," said Chef Clark. "Our Batida is an original, melding this classic Latin American taste with a truly North American summer tradition. It has become our most popular dessert!"

Priced at $10, the Batida is made with homemade Dulce de Leche Ice Cream and fresh cream and topped with a dollop of sweet cream and fresh berries. The crowning glory is Chef Clark's decorative presentation - the Batida is served in a tall glass uniquely decorated with a pulled sugar design, an effect that elevates this summer staple and also serves to showcases Palette's artistic bent.

Occupying the corner of 15th and M Streets next to The Madison hotel, Palette is open Monday through Friday for lunch, and seven days a week for dinner. Valet parking is available on site. For more information and reservations, please call (202) 587-2700 or visit the website www.palettedc.com.
