Dupont Grille To Give 100 Percent To Support Hurricane Relief

Washingtonians invited to dine October 21 and 22 with all proceeds benefiting Katrina and Rita relief efforts

In the wake of the devastating effects left by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, the management of Dupont Grille has decided to take an unprecedented step - donating 100 percent of all sales from lunch and dinner on Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd to the Salvation Army's Hurricane Relief Fund.

"We are a neighborhood restaurant that prides itself on supporting the community, and we, along with so many of our neighbors, feel it is our first priority to help those who have lost so much from this tragedy," said Executive Chef Duane Keller. "By dining at Dupont Grille for lunch or dinner on October 21st and 22nd, area residents will know they are directly helping those who were hit the hardest."

Under the direction of Keller, who recently joined the restaurant, the kitchen staff will be giving 100 percent of themselves as well. For the special weekend, Keller has developed new menu items that will pay tribute to the wonderful flavors of the Gulf Coast. Chef Keller will offer guests a special New Orleans's Fall Trio, an entrie featuring Pan Seared Gulf Snapper on wasabi mashed potatoes with Jumbo Lump Crab Meat and Shrimp. "Dupont Grille's menu of modern American cuisine has many New Orleans influences, " said Keller, "So we will also be offering our popular gumbo and other favorite dishes from our regular menu that weekend."

"We feel fortunate to run a successful restaurant and want to do anything we can to help contribute to the relief efforts," said General Manager Tom Casey. "When a disaster this large happens, everyone feels connected no matter if you live in the Gulf Coast region or Washington, D.C. It could very easily be any of us tomorrow."

Guests can dine at Dupont Grille and support the Hurricane Relief Fund on Friday, October 21 from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 22 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. For reservations, please call 202-939-9596.
