Elizabeth Restaurant Begins Lunch and Delivery Service and its Acclaimed Outdoor Garden Opens

New York restaurant veteran Sam Martinez started his career in 1985 working at such successful Keith McNally establishments as The Odeon, Lucky Strike, and Nell's Nightclub. Sam went on to open his own restaurants, Rialto and Caf Habana (which he no longer owns) in NoLita and is known for being a significant pioneer of the neighborhood's evolution and renaissance. He opened Elizabeth in the former Rialto space in 2008 with Jeff Mancini, once a regular at the restaurant. When they met, Jeff owned a TriBeCa design agency where he created interiors, branding and graphics. After many late-nights at Rialto, they decided to collaborate and open Elizabeth, a neighborhood restaurant and gathering spot for locals and artists, serving as a breeding ground for new ideas.

At the start of 2009, Sam and Jeff redefined Elizabeth's menu to better reflect its casual yet sophisticated atmosphere and their own personalities.

The menu now offers a modern interpretation of New American Cuisine and also "has an adventurous, sometimes silly spirit that's winning in its way", says Frank Bruni of the NY Times. From Chimay Battered Fish & Chips and Organic Chicken with curried couscous & dried fruit to Spaghetti with Meatballs, all of Elizabeth's menus add a "whimsical spirit" with items such as Snap - Crackle -Pop, a fun drink that comes out crackling with a pop-rocks rim, and a Cotton Candy Sundae.

After finding a harmonious balance at the start of 2009, the duo decided to begin serving lunch and offering delivery service daily. Starting on April 6, 2009, these new menus will introduce, among other things, a selection of six different hamburgers served alongside hand-cut garlic fries.

About Elizabeth's Design:
Frank Bruni from the NY Times writes, "The setting is sexy - a dashing redo of the Rialto, which Elizabeth replaced - and gives you comfortable seating options. You can unwind in one of the spacious circular booths, upholstered in tufted black leather, inside. Or you can relax in a garden with a retractable roof and trees overhead."

There are three areas that follow classic English form - the salon, card room, and garden.

In the Salon (front dining area), one finds modernized furnishings that are loosely based on traditional form and a reinterpreted English wallpaper graphic done in backlit "pixilated" mosaics. Two custom skull lamps mark the entry-an archeological reference an
