Fall Forward - Experience What's In Store This Fall And Winter At The Ritz-carlton, New Orleans
Enjoying the fall and fast forwarding to the winter, there is a lot in store at The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans. On October 6, 2012, the hotel celebrated its twelfth (12th) anniversary as the Crown Jewel of Canal Street (The Times-Picayune, October 6, 2000, Front Page).
The hotel is housed within the former Maison Blanche building, home to what was considered the South's finest department store. Following a $250M renovation and restoration, the historic landmark building was transformed into the city's finest luxury hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans. The four hundred and fifty-two (452) room property opened with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 6, 2000. The seventy-five (75) room freestanding boutique hotel known as The Maison Orleans opened seven months later on May 6, 2001. The two hotels share the same building and management team. In 2005, both hotels closed as a result of the effects of the storm, but they reopened in 2006 and The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans' room inventory was combined with that of The Maison Orleans for a total room count of five hundred and twenty-seven (527) under one roof. At that time, The Maison Orleans became the hotel's exclusive Club Level. Last but not least, the hotel underwent a $9M guest room renovation last year to enhance its status as the Crown Jewel of Canal Street.
