Fantastic Daytime Schedule With Tastings, Cultural Excursion & Seminars Set For 2012 Hawai`i Food & Wine Festival
The Second Annual Hawai`i Food & Wine Festival (HFWF) has scheduled an exciting line-up of daytime programs during the four-day event. Held from September 6-9, attendees will experience innovative seminars and educational lunches with celebrity chefs Ming Tsai, Masaharu Morimoto, Roy Yamaguchi, Todd English and Charles Phan among others; master wine tasting with Krug Champagne; and an educational excursion to an 800-year-old restored fishpond and lo`i (taro field).
With over 50 internationally-acclaimed master chefs invited from the United States, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Philippines, and Australia, our four signature events are being held at The MODERN Honolulu, Halekulani, Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and Spa, and Ko Olina Resort with Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa. Two of Hawai`is own James Beard Award-winning chefs, Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong, serve as event co-chairs for the Festival. Kamehameha Schools Presents "Bounty of He`eia II"
8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Price per person $100 (limited seating)
Journey to 800-year-old Hawaiian agricultural sites in the Ko'olau mountains and the shoreline of Kane'ohe Bay. Cultural practitioners will guide you in the art of dry taro pounding, and techniques for preparing poke, awa and steamed moi. The excursion ends with a delicious taste of He'eia's rich bounty prepared by chef Kealoha Domingo.

Hawai`i in a Bowl -- Trace and taste the culinary history of Hawai'i in five delicious bowls. Sip, slurp and savor steaming bowls of poi, oxtail soup, pho, poke and more with chefs Charles Phan, Colin Hazama and Ed Kenney!
Battle of the Food Geeks -- From farm to table, geeks are reinventing the future of food and changing the way we interact with the culinary world. In this 'American Idol' style session, 500 Startups (one of Silicon Valley's leading investors) brings their FoodTech entrepreneurs to pitch their innovative startups in front of the world's most venerated chefs, investors, and press including Roy Yamaguchi and Todd English.
