Fight Card Set For "battle Of The Chefs" Round Two Lineup Of San Francisco Culinary Heavyweights Will Leave Spectators Seeing Stars!
By the third and final event of its inaugural 2007 season, the Battle of the Chefs at Macys Union Square sold out of tickets in less than five minutes.Foodies and fight fans alike turned out in droves to witness some of San Franciscos most talented chefs face-off in a lighthearted cooking competition that left spectators awed and dishes gnawed.
Now, the second round of this highly anticipated series is back with an impressive group of San Francisco chefs that have cooked up a fair share of headlines over the past year with their culinary accomplishments.The lineup includes:
February 11th, 2008:Rick Corbo of Ducca vs. Travis Flood of Moose's
March 10th, 2008:Mark Sullivan of Spruce vs. Mark Denham of Laola
April 7th, 2008:Joel Huff of Silks vs. Ian Begg of Caf Majestic
Together, these chefs and their respective restaurants carry an average of over 3 stars with theSan Francisco Chronicle, three of which were included in theChroniclesTop-10 of 2007 (Ducca, Laola and Caf Majestic).Chef Sullivan of Spruce was recently named Best Newcomer by7x7 Magazinewhile Chef Huff was named one ofEsquire MagazinesFour Chefs to Watch.Chefs Flood, Corbo and Begg are all serious candidates for local and national Rising Star Chef awards.
During their battles, chefs will be given 45 minutes to prepare a dish using the nights secret ingredient.Chefs are entitled to bring complimentary ingredients that showcase their style of cooking, as well as a sous chef to assist them in preparation.
Once again, the talented and beautiful Marisa Churchill, known for her role on BravosTop Chefand currently the executive pastry chef at Yoshis of San Francisco, will provide the play-by-play commentary. The judges for each event will consist of local and national food personalities.
Admission to each "Battle of the Chefs" event is $10 and includes the competition, food and wine samples. The bell sounds at 6pmon the fight night dates above. Space is limited.
