Fishery Products International Celebrates Culinary R&d Center Opening
Fishery Products International, Inc. (FPI), a leading supplier of seafood and a premier importer of shrimp and finfish to the North American foodservice, retail and warehouse club marketplace, announced today the opening of a culinary research & development center at its North American headquarters in Danvers, Massachusetts. The 2000 square foot facility features all the elements required for the development of contemporary seafood products including a fully equipped foodservice kitchen, a cooking demonstration area, a taste testing area and conference rooms.
"Weve incorporated every type of foodservice equipment so we can duplicate our customers cooking techniques whether theyre restaurants, cruise ships, cafeterias or home kitchens, says Brian Halloran, corporate chef/director of culinary who spearheaded the project from concept through completion. Our quality assurance scientists will now work shoulder to shoulder with culinologists, food scientists and plant process engineers, providing a full team approach to R&D.
Here, with Chef Halloran at the helm, the Danvers based FPI R&D team will design, taste and test all prospective value-added seafood concepts. The center will also be the hub for custom seafood concept development in collaboration with key FPI accounts. Additionally, it will be the new location of the FPIQ Seafood School, the companys quarterly training program for customers, brokers and employees.
Well be hosting plant visits for the industry and educational sessions for seafood sales and marketing professionals, adds Chef Halloran. As a seafood fan it is very exciting to see a culinary R&D facility of this caliber come to fruition. Its ready to provide a full range of services and the latest in seafood products for consumers in all arenas.
