Floataway Caf� Unveils New Renovation And Expansion

ATLANTA--October 9, 2007--In celebration of their 10th anniversary, Floataway Caf� is undergoing a renovation and expansion designed by Patrick Coyne that will be completed by the end of October. The new Floataway Caf� is an expression of Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison's love of all things natural, organic and industrial. In keeping with the atmosphere and attitude of Floataway Caf�'s decor, the newly expanded and enlarged restaurant, bar and private dining room have been specifically designed to incorporate these elements. The integrity and pervasive calm of Floataway Caf�'s new space reflects an instinctive aversion to the pace of modern life. The materials used are luxuriously authentic and timeless - aged oak, linen, natural stone, wicker and wrought iron set against a warm rich depth of neutrally colored walls. The spaces are designed for comfort and privacy while managing to inspire and spark the senses where color is the key. Vibrant shades of teal, apple green, tomato and sky blue used sparingly, set the tone. These colors, along with boldly patterned rugs, tonal heath ceramics and glorious food, comfort guests as the trees and sky enhance the atmosphere of these luminous rooms.
To accent the dining experience, owners Quatrano and Harrison have decided to support the design with specific tableware: Edith Heath's designed Heathware. Quatrano and Harrison have long been admirers of Heath's eye for minimalism and modernism, and the tableware seemed the perfect vessel for the simple, timeless quality of Floataway Caf�'s locally inspired food as created by Chef de Cuisine Drew Belline. Heathware is a perfect combination of great design and durability. All Heath products are made from a special clay body evolved over 50 years by Edith Heath to become the strongest stoneware available. It is also oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Heath's handcraft process further sets Heathware apart from any other tableware in quality and feel, as their uniquely deep glazes cannot be reproduced in automation. Every piece is made in Sauslito, CA and crafted in the same manner, as it has been for the past half-century.
