Fresh City 100% Trans Fat Free: Vendors Accommodate Request

NEEDHAM BASED FAST CASUAL CHAIN ANNOUNCES 100% TRANS FAT FREE MENU

Vendors Accommodate Change: Wontons Last To Go

Needham, MA (October 11, 2005) - Fresh Concepts, owner and operator of the multi unit Fresh City, recently completed an analysis of its menu in order to offer guests 100% trans-fat free food items. The menu, which adds new items periodically, remains the same minus the harmful trans fats. The Needham based company which has been in business for over 30 years continues to be an industry leader offering quality food without the unnecessary trans fat oils.

Trans fats are partially hydrogenated vegetable oils commonly found in margarines and baked goods. Like saturated fats, trans fats have been shown to increase levels of low-density lipoproteins or "bad" cholesterol and decrease levels of high-density lipoproteins or "good" cholesterol. According to recent studies, consumption of trans fats could increase risk of diabetes, cancer, and even contribute to pregnancy complications.

Fresh City has set an example by maintaining a close to trans fat free menu since opening its first location in 1997. "We have always used fresh and ingredients, most of our menu has been trans fat free from the day we opened our first location" Larry Reinstein CEO of Fresh City. "We simply made some minor changes to our recipes and worked with our vendors to ensure 100% trans fat free products."

Wing Hing Foods has been providing Fresh City quality wanton noodles to accompany the Mandarin Sesame Chicken Salad for over a decade. "After careful analysis of every item on our menu, we found that the wontons from Wing Hing were cooked in hydrogenated oils which contain trans fats. We approached them and asked if they could re-develop their product to meet our trans fat free standards and they did without hesitation," explained Bruce Reinstein COO of Fresh City.

Fresh City's menu includes an abundant array of wholesome items including: Asian Noodles, Sir Fry, Fresh Wraps and Sandwiches, Homemade Soup, refreshing Smoothies and a freshly loaded Salad station. For more information on Fresh City visit www.freshcity.com or call 781.453.0200
