Greece Is The Word..is The Word, Is The Word...at Divine Bar West On April 8, 2008
Can't make it across the globe to the Greek islands this Spring? Then have no fear, as DIVINE BAR WEST has the ultimate solution. Simply head to West 54th Street in Manhattan to delve into Mediterranean wines and foods at an all Greek themed VINO-VERSITY class. Yes, its Greece lightning!
Take part in this first Spring Semester VINO-VERSITY class - an informal, wine tasting forum designed to teach the novice to advanced wine enthusiast how to enjoy and decipher the intricacies of wine. Taste over 24 incredible wines, from whites to reds to late harvest desserts, from Macedonia, Peloponnese, Santorini, and Crete, among others. When referring to the Greeks, Shari Schneider, DIVINE BAR's owner and resident wine expert, boasts "you've gotta figure these guys know what they're doing...they've had centuries of experience!"
A fabulous buffet of Mediterranean specialties, including stuffed grape leaves, roasted lamb and garlic tartlets, lemon-feta spread, and spanakopita, plus olives, tapenades and cheeses, will transport you right to Greece. Aside from tasting, you'll learn fabulous wine facts and tidbits, such as how to pronounce the major red grape, Agiorgitiko, by saying "Ahhhhh, your Yittiko is showing!" Oh my gods! It's the perfect way loosen up to, learn a bit and launch into the new season.
Greece is the Word "walk-around class" will be held from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at DIVINE BAR WEST (236 West 54th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue, NYC 10019). The cost is $38 per person for advance tickets. For more information and to purchase tickets, log on to www.Vino-Versity.com or call 212.265.WINE. Reservations are required and space is limited.
DIVINE BAR WEST, the city's most progressive and entertaining wine & tapas lounge, welcomes all to enjoy wine in a less serious, pretentious fashion. Its bi-weekly wine school, VINO-VERSITY, is designed by Shari Schneider to coax and educate the masses to steer clear of boring Merlots and Pinot Grigios. To help teach patrons in a non-intimidating manner Schneider created these walk-around wine-tasting events, or theme-based cocktail-style parties. It's "Edutainment!"
