Harbor View Hotel Decks The Halls With Holiday Deals

Some may think Martha's Vineyard is strictly a summer hot spot, but the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown proves to be the perfect destination for a quick getaway in all seasons, with special events and travel packages to celebrate the winter holidays.

Guests visiting the Harbor View Hotel December 8-10, 2006, can revel in the 25th Annual Christmas in Edgartown weekend, a tradition that transforms the historic whaling community into a holiday village of old, complete with Christmas caroling and concerts, a parade, wine tastings, gallery open houses and a lighting of the town's namesake lighthouse. Saturday's black-tie Christmas Ball at the Harbor View Hotel, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Martha's Vineyard, is the highlight of the weekend with a decadent four-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Joshua Hollinger, followed by dancing to the beat of a live swing band. More information on Christmas in Edgartown can be found at www.mvol.com/events.

Ask Santa for a romantic island getaway this year! The Harbor View's "December By-the-Sea" package is valid every weekend in December until Christmas. Overnight accommodations in a plush guestroom of the property's Victorian-style Main Inn and brunch for two at The Coach House are available for $189. Additional nights in the Main Inn are $129. The same package, with accommodations in the hotel's modern-style Governor Mayhew Building, is available for $159, with additional nights for $99.

On December 25, The Coach House celebrates St. Nick with Hollinger's Christmas Grand Buffet, featuring Lobster and tarragon bisque, Carved slow roasted prime rib au jus with roasted shallot cream and Slow roasted duck with sweet potato stuffing.
