NEW YORK, NEW YORK (AUGUST 6, 2005)Harvest In The Square is celebrating its 10th anniversary showcasing, top-rated restaurants from Union Square, one of New York City's most vibrant and exciting neighborhoods, on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Union Square Park. Set to the background of local music, the sunset event once again presents the opportunity for locals and visitors alike to savor the neighborhood's most delectable choices all under one tent in Union Square Park, rain or shine!
The one-of-a-kind gathering pairs old favorites like Union Square Cafe, Gotham Bar & Grill and SushiSamba with today's hottest culinary masters providing unlimited generous "tastings" of seasonal fare, prepared with fresh farm produce from the Greenmarket Farmers Market. Dishes are paired with wines from Long Island, New York state and around the globe, and New York microbrews.
General admission to the event is $85.00 per person advance purchase (call Telecharge 212-239-6200 or www.telecharge.com), and $95.00 per person at the door (cash only).
Harvest In The Square is a fundraiser benefiting Union Square Partnership's neighborhood initiatives including improvements to Union Square Park. Proceeds from Harvest In The Square 2005 will help fund the multi-million dollar Capital Campaign for the Completion of Union Square Park. This exciting public/private partnership initiative will enable the neighborhood realize its goal of a glorious northern gateway to the park, which will include expanded playgrounds, a restored pavilion and enhancements to the Greenmarket plaza.
"Harvest In The Square celebrates Union Square's status as Manhattan's best-tasting neighborhood," said Karen H. Shaw, Executive Director of the Partnership. "Not only is the event delicious fun, but it also raises funds to improve our wonderful community. We are very proud to be heading into our 10th year."
"Harvest In The Square is dedicated to promoting awareness of Union Square's restaurants and celebrating the community's vibrant spirit. Established in 1995, by Danny Meyer and Eric Petterson, it is the largest outdoor culinary event held under a tent in New York City, with upwards of 1,100 attendees in 2004. Chef Michael Romano, Union Square Cafe, will serve as this year's Restaurant Chair.
