Historic Dining Series Begins With Bastille Day & Alexandre Dumas
Mimi's of River Ridge, a fixture of suburban Jefferson Parish dining for over 30 years, offers Bites of History - an occasional series featuring the favorite foods of famous authors and artists.
First on the list is Alexandre Dumas, whose tale of Bastille intrigue, 'The Man in the Iron Mask', inspired the Dumas-themed Bastille Day Dinner.
Dumas, who made buckets of money as one of the world's most popular authors, spent most of it on wine, women, and fancy foods. An epicure and cooking expert, he lived large...and was often broke.
Says Chef-Owner David Whitmore of Bites of History and Bastille Day..."Here in New Orleans, we love to talk about what we ate and what we're going to eat. It's a natural for Bastille Day."
The 5-course Bites of History Bastille Day Menu serves up the favorite foods of Alexandre Dumas and is available July 13 - 17. The cost is $37 for all 5 courses.
Located at 10160 Jefferson Highway in River Ridge, Louisiana, Mimi's features white-tablecloth dining, a full bar with wine list, a semi-private dining area, and the original paintings of musician Leo Meiersdorff.
