Les Nouvelles Mhres Cuisinihres will cook together in the United States for the first time

Honoring the legacy of Jean-Louis Palladin and raising money for City Harvest

New York, January 13, 2003 Flying in from France and Spain four top women chefs will join Ariane Daguin and Eric Ripert to prepare a sumptuous dinner on Sunday, February 9th at 6:00PM at Le Bernardin. This constellation of superlative culinary talent is offering their skill to benefit City Harvest. Open to the public, the price of the six-course dinner, including exceptional wines, is $250.

Ariane Daguin of DArtagnan will be joined by Elena Arzak of Restaurante Arzak, Hilhne Darroze of La Maison dHilhne, Christine Ferber of Boulangerie et Patisserie Ferber, and Caroline Rostang of Michel Rostang. This will be the first time in the United States for Christine Ferber. These daughters of illustrious European chef restaurateurs continue to carry on the traditions of the older generation while forging their own identities. They are building on the legacy of their family businesses by introducing new concepts and fresh ideas.

Recently, these womenranging in age from 29 to 44joined together to form an informal club, called Les Nouvelles Mhres Cuisinihres. Because the kitchen is traditionally a male dominated territory, they have banded together to offer each other support, exchange ideas, and generate recognition for the achievements of women chefs. At this dinner, each chef will offer a signature dish from their restaurant: from the foie gras of Ariane Daguin to the dessert by famed pastry chef Christine Ferber.

Ariane Daguin, member of the Food Council and Eric Ripert, a member of the Board of Directors and head of the Food Council of City Harvest conceived the benefit as a way of raising funds for their charity and honoring the memory of Chef Palladin. Our wish is to keep alive the legacy of one of the greatest chefs of all time by bringing talented cooks closer to the sources of ingredients, comments Ariane Daguin. Palladin mentored young talent, and encouraged and supported farmers and suppliers in the United States to produce artisanal ingredients to match and even surpass the flavors of French farm products. Each one of these women are fully dedicated to this philosophy and all share the passion of creating dishes that are connected to the best of natural products.

Founded in l981, City Harvest is the nations oldest and largest food rescue organization dedicated to feeding hungry people in New York City.
