Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery: The Perfect Spot To Celebrate S'mores Day
When smoky, chocolate-y goodness, golden brown marshmallows, and crunchy graham crackers become one, they form a delicious dessert that is munched at campfires around the country. Friday, August 10 is National S'mores Day, and Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery in Ballard will be celebrating all things s'mores beginning at 11am.
Autumn Martin, known for her innovative flavor profiles, began cold smoking chocolate over alder wood a few years back and has since put her spin on this classic American dessert.
"I was a Girl Scout for many years," says Martin. "And it makes me proud to pay homage to the gals who, as legend has it, invented s'mores. Our s'more cookie is one of our best-sellers, so clearly those gals were on to something!"
In honor of National S'mores Day, Hot Cakes is rolling out a few new items, bringing back a much-loved cookie sandwich, and offering a weekend special.
New at the shop will be the S'mores Cookie Kit. This adorable Italian-made Fido hinged-lid jar of organic ingredients doubles as a cookie jar and makes the perfect gift for the kid in all of us. The kit includes: Washington-grown Shepherd's Grain flour, organic sugar, organic dark brown sugar, organic house-made smoked chocolate chips, and organic house-made marshmallows. The kit makes about 12 cookies and retails for $21.95.
Hot Cakes will also debut their Organic Marshmallows. A bag of four enormous 'mallows retails for $5.95.
On special for the weekend, Hot Cakes will be offering their 8 ounce bag of House-made Smoked Chocolate Chips, that were recently featured in the Wall Street Journal, for $12.
Guests can also look forward to Martin's S'mores Cookie Sandwich, which debuted at the Columbia City Farmers Market last year, and sold like...well...hotcakes! We're talking a house-made roasted 'mallow between two mini s'mores cookies for $3.
The shop will have their original s'more cookies, s'more molten chocolate cakes, and s'more milkshakes available too!
Not only is August 10 National S'mores Day, but it will from here on out be known as the day Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery officially opened for weekday sweet treats and savory lunch. The dessert shop will open at 11am Monday thru Friday moving forward. The 9am start time on Saturday and Sunday remains the same.
