Hot New Cocktails At Poste
Imagine sitting under the stars in a Parisian-style courtyard amid hibiscus blooms while sipping on The Parisiana delicious champagne cocktail served in a flute and incorporating Stoli Razberi, pineapple juice, Chambord, and champagne. How about settling into a cozy love seat to enjoy La Belle Nuita white chocolate martini infused with Stoli Vanil, crhme de cacao, Frangelico, and Bailey's, garnished with baby chocolate kisses? Or maybe you prefer hustling up to the bar for an Ooh la la - Poste's Cosmo brimming with Stoli Ohranj, triple sec, fresh lime, and cranberry juice. Well, Washingtonians don't have to imagine; they can have it all at Poste Moderne Brasserie.
General Manager Tricia Cominsky and Bar Manager Erik Bergman have spent countless hours mixing and shaking to create Poste's sensational summer drink menu. Incorporating Poste's theme, nine new seasonal cocktails priced between $7 and $11 are stirring the crowds. In addition to the aforementioned libations, guests can imbibe The Paysan - Lagaria Pinot Grigio, peach schnapps, white cranberry juice, and Sprite with a splash of freshly squeezed OJ. This popular cocktail can be ordered by the glass or carafe. The Manhattan Frangaise, playing on the classic Manhattan, combines Maker's Mark, Grand Marnier, and sweet vermouth. A formula of French Brandy, triple sec, and sours rimmed with turbinado sugar makes up the Classic Sidecar (as in Casablanca fame). On particularly steamy Washington nights, Poste's version of a creamsicle is sure to cool anyone. Served on the rocks in a tall glass, the Crhme de la Crhme features Bacardi Vanila, ginger ale, and freshly squeezed OJ, all topped with a cherry. Gin lovers will enjoy the French "75," a blend of Tanqueray #10 and sours topped with champagne. And each day, Erik asks the deft bar staff to create a special Drink du Jour.
Of course, Poste couldnt be a brasserie without a great selection of beers, such as top-selling Stella Artois and local favorite Foggy Bottom Lager. Other highlights from the list of 11 brews include Chimay, Magic Hat Blind Faith IPA, Hoegarrden, and Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. The usual suspects round out the list.
To encourage guests to explore some lesser-known wines, Erik has developed a summer wine list (separate from the more extensive wine list) that features 11 wines for $30 and under. Solo diners can order any of the 11 wines by the glass. Wine lovers will also relish the additional 13 seasonal vintages by the glass. Rosis, Rieslings, Rhtnes, and Chardonnays (including the 2002 La Tour Chardonnay served exclusively at Poste)
