Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces Offers Unique Southwestern Wine Destination

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – (April 21, 2015) – Heritage Hotels and Resorts, Inc. (http://www.hhandr.com) are teaming with the city of Las Cruces to celebrate the region’s long history of winemaking. As part of the upcoming Southern New Mexico, Wine Festival, Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces (www.hotelencanto.com) is offering a southwestern wine getaway for the wine novice, enthusiast and expert and also teaming with local winemakers to help educate those traveling to the area, on all that New Mexico has to offer wine enthusiasts. The popular hotel is also partnering with Rio Grande Winery on a special tasting opportunity for guests.

New Mexico has 3 winemaking regions that are growing in popularity. Some of the better known vineyards include the Gruet Winery, St. Clair Winery and La Vina Winery. Now the southern part of the state is celebrating the long history they have in winemaking with spring festivals, special tastings and packaged wine weekend getaways. Known as the oldest winemaking region in the U.S. the first grapevines planted in what is now the state of New Mexico, were brought in 1629 by Fray Gracia de Zuniga, a Franciscan, and Antonio de Arteaga, a Capuchin monk. They thrived from New Mexico’s high desert climate and ideal soils.

The Southern New Mexico Wine Festival will be held Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25, 2015), at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Las Cruces. During this time, Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces will be offering their New Mexico Wine Weekend Getaway Package which includes a bottle of New Mexico wine delivered to your room, deluxe room accommodations, fruit and cheese plate, maps to local Las Cruces wineries, Hot Breakfast for two at Gardunos Restaurant & Cantina and a local treasures discount card. Additionally the hotel has partnered with Rio Grande Winery, (www.riograndewinery.com), that will offer guests who book the New Mexico Wine Weekend Package a complimentary Rio Grande Winery tour and wine tasting and additional discounts on their products.

The New Mexico Wine Weekend Getaway Package will be offered all summer, as well as, over Labor Day weekend when Las Cruces hosts the annual Harvest Wine Festival, a three day festival that boasts art and wine vendors, along with wine tastings and live music.
