Hurricane Preparedness Plan Keeps Oceanboy Farms In Business

HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS PLAN KEEPS OCEANBOY FARMS IN BUSINESS
Today's Research & Development Center Ribbon Cutting Postponed

(Clewiston, Fla...October 27, 2005) Located in South Central Florida, OceanBoy Farms, Inc. has emerged as strong as ever in an area particularly hard hit by Hurricane Wilma. All of its employees are safe, and with the implementation of its hurricane preparedness plan, OceanBoy was able to protect its facilities from severe damage and keep its organic shrimp secure.

OceanBoy Farms is the scientific leader in the development, production and marketing of the healthiest, best tasting and most environmentally friendly shrimp in the world and is the only successful large-scale producer of USDA-certified organic shrimp in the United States.

While back-up electric generators allow the harvesting of shrimp to continue at OceanBoy, power outages, blocked roads and fuel shortages in the area have made travel difficult. As a precaution, today's ribbon cutting with the Honorable Charles H. Bronson, commissioner of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS), for the Michael J. Warner Aquaculture Research & Development Center has been postponed until conditions improve. The center represents OceanBoy's dedication to science and advancements in sustainable aquaculture and will focus on the development of commercially viable innovations in taste, health and low-salinity shrimp production. The ribbon cutting will be rescheduled at a later date.

"While there are certainly repairs that will need to be made, it is business as usual at Florida's only inland shrimp farm," says OceanBoy President and COO Steve Walton. "We have systems in place to deal with the damage and are continuing to harvest and process shrimp, maintaining our productivity and meeting consumer demands."

OceanBoy is the second largest employer in Clewiston and will provide much-needed USA-produced shrimp to the marketplace, given the devastation Hurricanes Katrina and Rita inflicted on Gulf Coast wild shrimpers and shrimp farmers. OceanBoy hopes to have its 2005 harvest finished by November 1 or 2. When the company finishes harvesting, it will give away its ice to those in need and start preparing for next year's grow out. Company representatives are available to accommodate media tours of the farm and its processing plant during these last few days of harvest, or at any time. OceanBoy wishes fellow Floridians the very best in the wake of this storm.
