HYATT REGENCY CAMBRIDGE OPENS
NEW $1.2 MILLION PRESIDENTS BALLROOM

Cambridge, MA…..The Hyatt Regency Cambridge opened the doors to its new $1.2 million remodeled President’s Ballroom in February 2003. Under the direction of General Manager Stuart Meyerson the ballroom reopened on time to host the Cambridge NAACP annual breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr as well as an elegant dinner for 400 benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that evening.

The grand ballroom’s opening ribbon-cutting event was attended by Hyatt Regency General Manager Stuart Meyerson, Cambridge Mayor Michael Sullivan, Cambridge NAACP President Kathy Reddick, regional NAACP Director Hilda Rodgers, Attorney General Thomas Reilly, and Senate President Robert Travaglini in addition to 350 distinguished guests.

The Design
Architectural Interiors of Annapolis designed the remodeled space to reflect the elegance and the high tech flexibility demanded by today’s standards. Suffolk Construction of Boston was the general contractor. With movable sound-proofed walls the President’s Ballroom has the ability to create 4 separate spaces, and is completely wired for high tech meetings.

When the Hyatt Regency Cambridge first opened along the banks of the Charles River in 1976 it made a dramatic statement with its pyramid-like structure, a 16 story atrium lobby, and sparkling glass elevators. Boston hadn’t seen such drama in architecture or design.

Once again setting the standard, the President’s Ballroom is one of Cambridge’s largest at 7,000 square feet, and features an adjoining open air courtyard and gazebo. The contemporary design exudes vitality, drama, elegance. Stunning neoclassical 18 foot tall columns grace the ballroom, as do custom-designed cylindrical chandeliers floating above, and softly glowing matching sconces on the ballroom walls. Wallcoverings are a subtle beige tone, setting off the luxe Axminster carpet of blue, jade, beige and royal plum.

The President’s Ballroom hosts strategic business meetings by day, and the city’s top social functions by night. Offering personalized and professional service for booking the ballroom for social and business events are Director of Sales & Marketing Patrick Sorge, Director of Catering Sheri Morgan Muskin, and their exceptional Hyatt Regency Cambridge team. “With this grand new ballroom, complete with the flexibility of the soundproofed movable walls and high tech wiring, and complemented by the culinary team of Executive Chef Brad Ozerdem, we are able to offer our guests an amazing experience” comments Sorge.
