Imafestival The International Art Contest On Food And Migration Arrives To New York. June 12th - 18th
International Migration Art Festival (IMAFestival www.imafestival.com) is presented by EatArt and IMAO, nonprofit organizations promoting artistic talent in different cultural venues and art categories. The festival will be in New York from June 12th until June 18th.
Rossella Canevari, writer, screenwriter and artistic director of this project, together with producer and lawyer Elena Maria Manzini, conceived the IMAFestival to discover new talents while focusing the spotlight on the relevant issue of migration, especially on its cultural and social dimensions. IMAFestival consists of Art Your Food, an international art contest whose theme is Food and Migration, and Sport Your Food, an exhibition curated by Rossella Canevari combining art, food, sport and technology.
The Festival opened on May 5th in Milan and is now going on an international tour, first in New York, where it will present three different events in the month of June, and later in London, where it will land during the period of Olympic games.
All Festival events will begin on Tuesday, June 12th at Eataly with an exhibition from Sport Your Food. The works are introduced by their creators' holograms which, thanks to astonishing technology, appear in full-scale, discussing art, haute cuisine and sport. Ferrarelle and Grana Padano, the Italian sponsors of the Festival, will offer a buffet, also including products from Prosciutto di Parma and Voga. The exhibition will be open to the public at Eataly until Tuesday, June 19th.
The second event, powered by Ferrarelle, will be held on Thursday, June 14th at Wook & Lattuada Gallery, where guests will have the chance to enjoy "New Italians", an exposition of works by young emerging artists, while tasting typical Italian food. The event will also feature a preview of one of Sport Your Food works, which will be hosted by the gallery until Wednesday, June 20th.
IMAFestival's closing night in New York will be on Monday, June 18th at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo. The audience will have the opportunity to attend a conference on the theme of translation moderated by Rossella Canevari, featuring Italian best-selling writer Giorgio Faletti (I kill, 2002) and his translator Antony Shugaar, and to discover and get to know Art Your Food Literature and Film categories winners, who will present their works. IMAFestival sponsors will offer a buffet of Italian food and beverages.
