Innovative Foodservice From Paris

On foodservice in France, Nicole Parker-Hodds, Associate Analyst, commented:

"Following the entrance of significant UK brands, such as Marks & Spencer and Pret a Manger, the informal eating-out sector in France has started to consolidate. However, still dominated by independent and local chains, France is not an easy market to penetrate. With continually changing demographics and social conditions altering the way consumers behave, foodservice operators need to stay innovative and adapt their strategies to local tastes to compete successfully.

It is no surprise that France is McDonald's second most profitable market globally as it adjusts its business model to suit local market tastes by adapting menu items and concepts and advertising its local sourcing. As other national and international chains successfully acclimatise to French habits and preferences, France will become the major stepping stone into mainland Europe for UK and US foodservice companies."

A new report from Planet Retail - Innovative Foodservice from Paris: Opportunities for operators and suppliers in the French QSR and convenience market - provides a detailed analysis of the French foodservice sector. Drawing on best practice examples from leading players in the sector, the report gives an overview of the informal eating-out market at a time when many multi-national players are looking to enter.
